We believe relaxation is very important to an individual’s health, wellbeing and development. Therefore we feel it is important that children are given skills, techniques and time to help them to relax both their minds and their bodies.
All children at our centre are introduced to the relaxation techniques of Tai Chi, progressive relaxation and visualisation exercises. Tai Chi exercises are done at approximately the same time every day. The focus of these exercises is to achieve balance and harmony. The exercises centre on concentrating and controlling ones breathing while moving the body in a flowing motion to stretch and relax the muscles. The children are encouraged to recognise when they need to calm their body or mind. Our environments support relaxation. We provide quiet and relaxing areas for the children which promote and encourage relaxation.
The kinesiology program implemented at the centre focuses on improving the connection between the brain and body. Parts of the program also focus on improving the integration between the two halves of the brain. Kinesiology activities are implemented at various times throughout the program, on a daily basis.
