Being Community based, implies parent involvement. Parents are encouraged to have input into all areas of operating the centre, to ensure that we continue to offer what is in the best interest of your child. Parents may be involved in any of the following ways.
- Visiting days. Try to plan for your child to have a visitor (parent, relative or special adult friend) once a term. We believe that the most important aspect of visiting days is the sharing of preschool experience between you and your child.
- Sharing any of your interests or talents with your child’s group .
- Being a member of the preschool committee.
- Volunteering some of your time for social events and fundraising efforts.
Our Centre is managed by a committee of parents who are elected at the Annual General Meeting each year.
We are a 2 unit, community based centre licensed for 50 children to be on the premises at one time. Approximately 120 children attend the centre each week.
The Committee meets once a month and have input into all decisions relating to employment of staff, setting of fees, policy making and the general running of the preschool business.
Our Centre offers excellent facilities and equipment that the Committee helps to buy, maintain and establish through social events and fundraising. We also receive assistance from the Albury City Council.
CENTRE POLICY MANUAL
Our Centre has a comprehensive Policy Manual which includes policies that cover everything from the Preschool Philosophy, Responsibilities of Staff & Committeee, Financial Policies, Behaviour & Health & Safety Management through to our Grievance Policy. It would be too expensive to give each parent a copy of this document however we encourage you to ask for copies of any policies that you are interested in. At the start of each year families are emailed or given copies of the Emergency Evacuation, Behaviour Management, Inclusion, Child Protection and Grievance Policies because we feel it is
particularly important for parents to understand these.
West Albury Preshool also offers a caring, supportive service to families in relation to all matters involved in raising children and being a family. We have a large network of contacts and support services that we can refer families on to.
